Arriving at Buckeye Boys State
Registration for the 2025 Session of Buckeye Boys State will be conducted from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m. on SUNDAY, June 8, 2025 on the campus of Miami University in Oxford, OH.
Please plan to arrive between 12 noon and 1:30 p.m. Registration will close at 1:30 p.m.
Note: An exception to the established Registration time period will be made for delegates arriving late due to special circumstances who have been approved in advance by the Director of Buckeye Boys State.
Nearly 1,250 people will be registered between 12:00 noon and 1:30 p.m.
To assist you and your parents in arriving at the registration area, a Traffic Plan will be in effect on the streets leading to Millett Hall. Please follow the ALBBS registration signs.
IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU HAVE YOUR EMERGENCY INFORMATION FORM IN YOUR PHYSICAL POSSESSION AT THE TIME OF CHECK-IN. Do not pack the form in your suitcase. It must be in your hand at the time you check-in.
At the check-in desk, you will present your Emergency Information form. You will be given a white registration card and directed to your residence hall, where staff personnel will meet and direct you to your Boys State city and your room.
DO NOT LOSE THE WHITE REGISTRATION CARD. IT MUST BE TURNED IN TO YOUR CITY COUNSELOR.
Driving to Buckeye Boys State
Millett Hall on the campus of Miami University in Oxford, OH is easily found using major maps providers such as Google Maps or Apple Maps. We have provided some basic instructions depending on where you where coming from in Ohio:
From the north via I-75:
Take I-75 South to I-70 West (exit 61). Follow I-70 West to State Route 127 South (exit 4). Take State Route 127 South to State Route 73 South.
From the northeast via I-71:
Take I-71 South to I-270 West/Dayton (exit 119). Follow I-270 West to I-270 South/Dayton. Follow I-270 South to I-70 West (exit 8). Follow I-70 West to State Route 127 South (exit 4). Follow State Route 127 South to State Route 73 West.
From the northeast/southeast via I-77:
Take I-77 from the northeast or southeast to I-70 West (exit 178). Follow I-70 West to State Route 127 South (exit 4). Follow State Route 127 South (exit 4) to State Route 73 West.
From the southeast via State Route 32/50:
Take State Route 32 West to I-275 South/North/Columbus. Follow I-275 North to State Route 127 North (exit 36). Follow State Route 127 North to State Route 73 West.
From the southwest via I-71/I-75/I-74/I-275:
Take route of choice to I-275 Exit 36/State Route 127 North. Take State Route 127 to State Route 73.
From Central Ohio via I-70:
Take I-70 West to State Route 127 South (exit 4). Follow State Route 127 South to State Route 73 West.
Program Resources
Program Orientation
Every student selected to participate in the program, delegate or alternate, is expected to attend an orientation session prior to the program. These orientation sessions will take place mainly in person at various legion posts around the state from late April to early June. Please plan to attend, as they are opportunities for parents and students alike to ask questions about the program and gain valuable insight. While we would prefer you attend an in-person orientation, a virtual orientation option will be made available for those with transportation or unresolvable scheduling issues.
The Blue Book
The Blue Book is a version of the Ohio Government Digest, prepared for American Legion Buckeye Boys State. It is an indispensable tool for getting familiar with the state government systems of Buckeye Boys State.

The Gold Book
The Gold Book is the delegate handbook of the American Legion Buckeye Boys State. It tells you everything you need to know about the program, including its history, registration information, how to run for office, and other essential information.

Employment Application
If you intend to apply for employment for one of the positions detailed below in the Buckeye Boys State program please download, complete, and submit the application as described below. The positions available are explained in detail in the Gold Book, included in your Delegate Packet. Please review the positions carefully and select the one for which you feel best qualified.

You may apply for only one position! If you submit multiple applications, the first application received will submitted for consideration and the rest will be discarded.
All positions will be filled via a personal interview process the opening day of the Buckeye Boys State program, and Delegates hired will begin work immediately. Delegates who are hired will be able to participate in all Boys State activities, with the exception of holding an elective/appointive office because of the time commitments required for these positions.

If you require additional space for any of your answers, please attach additional typewritten or printed pages. Once you have completed the application, review and print the finished document, and when satisfied, submit by postal mail to:

Any applications received after June 1st will not be considered, so it is important to apply early. No applications will be accepted at the Buckeye Boys State program.
Please note: If you are applying for the position as artist with the Hetuck, it is requested that you include a sample of your artwork on a separate sheet of paper, attached to your application. The sample should be a line drawing, freehand, as this is the type of drawing that will appear in the Hetuck.

Program Staff
Staff of Buckeye Boys State
The staff of American Legion Buckeye Boys State is composed of over 100 highly motivated and qualified individuals who work with one goal in mind: to make the week at Buckeye Boys State one of the most rewarding, educational, and worthwhile weeks of a young man’s life.
The staff of Buckeye Boys State, composed largely of members of the American Legion, is drawn from the ranks of the Trustees and Commissioners (members of the American Legion) of Buckeye Boys State, the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the Ohio General Assembly, the Agencies of the Ohio Government, the United States Military Services, professional career fields, the American Legion State Headquarters staff, and former Boys State delegates.
Many staff members are former Boys State delegates, who devote eight days during the summer to Buckeye Boys State, taking time from their careers, families, and vacations to do so.
Buckeye Boys State Counselors
A key component of the American Legion Buckeye Boys State staff, vital to the success of the overall Boys State program is the Buckeye Boys State Counselor staff.
All of the members of the Boys State Counselor staff are former Boys State delegates who return to the program to bring their talents and expertise to the incoming class of delegates.
The members of the Boys State Counselor Section live and work with the delegates directly on the Residence Hall floors and supervise their actions 24 hours a day for the duration of the Boys State program.
The Boys State Counselor staff also works in tandem with the members of the Ohio American Legion on the staff to accomplish the teaching and leadership goals of Buckeye Boys State.
