Learn more about the steps to take to get involved with the American Legion Buckeye Boys State program before, during, and after junior year of high school.
How to become a delegate

Across the state of Ohio, many American Legion posts will be conducting interviews in local high schools to select their delegates to sponsor. These interviews normally happen in the winter/spring time.
Ask your school administrators, guidance counselors, and/or history teachers to see if there are Buckeye Boys State interviews conducted at your school.
If there is not a Legion Post interviewing at your local school and you’re interested in attending, please fill out an application and we’ll set you up with a Post who is interviewing in your area!
Once you’re a delegate

If selected to attend American Legion Buckeye Boys State, keep an eye out for orientation dates. At orientation, you will learn more about what to expect at the program, what to pack, and what opportunities are available to you.
There are some scholarship applications that require additional paperwork.
Familiarize yourself with our “Before the Program” resources to learn more about what to expect and upcoming orientations.
